| Submitting Prepared Artwork |
Note to Graphic Artists & Designers: For VINYL CUTTING: (submit Vector file) Any artwork for vinyl cutting that is digital or computer designed such as lettering, logos etc. must be first converted to curves or outlines before being exported or saved in such file formats as .eps, .plt, .pct, .dxf, etc. For DIGITAL PRINTS: (submit Raster file) The Resolution should be approximately 60 dpi at FULL SCALE. Upon enlarging any Raster file, the resolution is decreased proportionally. Example: a 4"x 6" image at 300 dpi resolution would yield a print of 20"x 30" at 60 dpi resolution. RASTER file (image file comprised of dots or pixels) such as a photo, fax or hardcopy. Raster files (commonly referred to as bitmap image files) rely on resolution which limits the scalability or clarity for reproduction. Common digital file extension examples are: .jpeg, .bmp, .gif, .tiff etc. VECTOR file Vector graphics use geometric primitives such as points, lines and curves to create the image. They are highly scalable and can be enlarged without losing clarity of line. This makes them perfect for any sized reproduction such as vinyl cutting requires. Proper vector files should have only SINGLE outlines for cutting vinyl and multi-colored vinyl decals further require color separations. If this sounds too confusing just call and we will gladly help. Design files such as .cdr and .ai files with combined formats (both raster and vector) can commonly be used provided any fonts or typefaces used are available or sent under separate file. |
